The Science, Philosophy & Story Behind the Practice

Dr. Myiesha Lincoln, BCDFN

Board-Certified Doctor of Functional Nutrition

Too many people spend years knowing something isn’t right, yet leave appointment after appointment without meaningful answers. They may be told their symptoms are “normal,” that their laboratory results look fine, or that there is little to address—while they continue to feel anything but well.

I know that experience personally.

My path into functional nutrition began with my own health challenges and the realization that simply managing individual symptoms was not enough. I wanted to understand why my body was struggling in the first place—and why seemingly unrelated symptoms could persist even when conventional testing offered no explanation.

That search ultimately became a much deeper education in functional nutrition and whole-body physiology. Through years of advanced training, I came to understand health not as a collection of isolated systems, but as an interconnected story. Metabolism, digestion, hormones, immune function, sleep, stress, nutrition, environment, and lifestyle continuously influence one another.

And when we stop looking at those pieces in isolation, patterns begin to emerge.

Your Symptoms Are Not Random — They Are Information.

That principle sits at the heart of Functional Holistic Nutrition.

My approach is designed to look beyond a single symptom, diagnosis, or laboratory value and examine the broader context of your health. We explore your history, nutrition, lifestyle, symptoms, goals, existing laboratory data, and—when appropriate—advanced functional testing to identify meaningful patterns and areas that may deserve greater attention.

From there, we build a strategy around you.

Not a generic protocol. Not a temporary quick fix. And not an endless pursuit of perfection.

The goal is to help you better understand your body, address the factors that may be standing between you and optimal function, and create a personalized, evidence-informed path toward greater metabolic resilience, energy, clarity, and long-term well-being.

Because feeling “fine” is not the same as thriving.

That is the standard behind my work—and the reason Functional Holistic Nutrition exists.
